Plain broom-finish concrete is fine for a driveway. For a patio, walkway, pool deck, or front entry in Dubuque, stamped and decorative concrete gives you the look of stone or pavers at a fraction of the cost, with one continuous surface that holds up to Tri-State freeze-thaw better than unit pavers.

What we install

  • Stamped patios (ashlar slate, random stone, European fan, brick, wood-plank)
  • Stamped pool decks (skid-resistant texture, light-color reflectivity)
  • Stamped walkways, entries, and front porches
  • Acid-stained interior or exterior concrete
  • Integral-color and broadcast-color finishes
  • Exposed-aggregate driveways and walkways
  • Polymer-modified overlays on sound existing slabs

Tri-State-tough sealer schedule

Sealing is what separates a 5-year stamped patio from a 25-year one. Our standard maintenance plan:

  • Year 0: Pour, color, stamp, sealer applied at 30 days
  • Year 2–3: Re-seal (light cleaning, fresh acrylic coat)
  • Year 6: Re-seal + minor touch-up where needed
  • Year 10+: Full strip + recolor if look is tired (usually not needed)

We leave you a written maintenance schedule with every stamped install.

Quality Concrete Built Tough

Stamping is a finishing trade where timing and craft win. We assign our most experienced finisher to the stamp pour. No rookies on this kind of job.

FAQs

Stamped & Decorative Concrete questions.

How much does stamped concrete cost in Dubuque? +

Stamped concrete in the Dubuque area runs $11–$20 per square foot installed depending on pattern, number of colors, sealer choice, and site complexity. A typical 400 sq ft stamped patio lands in the $5,500–$9,500 range.

How long does stamped concrete last in Tri-State winters? +

Properly installed and sealed stamped concrete lasts 25+ years in the Dubuque climate. The keys are air-entrained mix (5–7%), proper joint placement, and re-sealing every 2–3 years. Skipping the resealing schedule is the most common reason stamped surfaces start to look tired.

What patterns do you offer? +

Ashlar slate, random stone, European fan, brick running-bond, wood plank, cobble, and a variety of textured skins. We bring sample boards to the on-site quote so you can pick against your home's brick or stone.

Can stamped concrete be poured over an existing slab? +

Sometimes, using a 1/2″–1″ polymer-modified overlay if the existing slab is structurally sound and properly prepped. For badly cracked slabs we recommend tear-out and a fresh pour; an overlay over a failing slab will just telegraph cracks.

What sealer do you use and how often does it need re-applied? +

We use a solvent-based acrylic sealer for color depth, or a water-based for matte finishes. In our climate, re-seal every 2–3 years to maintain the color and protect against deicer chemicals.
